We Are Pioneers Of The Girls' Wrestling Movement!

The Inaugural CGMSSWC All-State Team

Welcome to the California Girls Middle School State Wrestling Championships! In 2005, with the Napa-Vallejo region well on it's way to earning the title of the Cradle of the Women's Wrestling movement with the birth of the Napa Valley Girl's Classic and the California Girls' Invitational(the pre-cursor to the CIF's sanctioned Girls State Championships), a group of coaches collaborated to host the Inaugural California Girls Middle School State Championships in Vallejo, California!

Sixty-Eight Girls from throughout California took to the mats at Vallejo High School on that sunny day in 2005, with Bancroft of San Leandro winning the 1st California Girl's Middle School Team State Championship and ten amazing young ladies earning Gold medals to make the CGMSSWC 1st All-State Team!

Since the Inaugural event we saw the rise of the Springstowne Lady Wildcats of Vallejo, who built one of the largest girls' programs on any level with 80 girls at its peak, as they won the California Golden Cup 9 times over a ten year span, only falling to the Galivan View Lady Hawks of Salinas at Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco in '14! Word about this Middle School event spread and it rapidly became the largest and toughest middle school girl's event in the United States often eclipsing 200+ girls annually with brackets often featuring 20 or more competitors. In recent years Louis Pasteur of Orangevale pulled off a 3-peat as team champions and in 2019 Kerr of Elk Grove laid claim to the Golden Cup!

In 2020 we were elated to be hosting our 16th Annual event at Justin-Siena HS in Napa before Covid-19 protocols and the extended lockdowns saw the event sidelined in both 2020 and 2021. With CIF wrestling returning to full force in 2022 we felt it was time to bring back this historic event and held it in San Leandro where one of our original trailblazing programs, the Bancroft Lady Broncos hail from. We were very proud of the brave girls who stepped to line that day with extra kudos going to Baechtal Grove Middle School of Willits who notched their 1st Team Championship bring the Golden Cup home to Mendocino County for the 1st time!!!

History was made yet again in 2023 and 2024, as our event was held in Sonoma County and Mendocino County respectively. The Bancroft Lady Broncos of San Leandro took home the Golden Cup from both!

Amit Elor, who won two CGMSSWC Championships, brought home an Olympic Gold for the 2024 Paris Olympics!

In a decade and a half this event has aided the development of many girls who have gone on to become CIF State Medal Winners, members of the vaunted USA Team California's Fargo Championship squads and even produced a number of Collegiate level wrestlers. We also sat on the edge of our seats as Amit Elor, a 2x CGMSSWC Champ, took home Gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics! Thank for your continued support as we look forward to continuing to provide this opportunity for California Girls for years to come!!!
